PokéBonk Co-op Guide
PokéBonk Co-op Guide
TL;DR · PokéBonk co-op lets 2–4 trainers play Classic together, and since 0.8.68 Team Survival too. You can create a room and invite friends, join with a 4-character room code, or use Find a match (0.8.73) to team up with strangers. Since 0.8.73, co-op needs an account. Guests get a prompt to create one without losing progress.

Overview

Version / as-of: client 0.8.76 · 2026-10-29. Co-op is live and still labelled BETA in the menu.

How to play co-op in PokéBonk

  1. Make an account. Co-op, friends and clans are for trainers with an account. If you play as a guest, the game walks you through creating one and keeps your progress.
  2. Open Co-op ("Play with your friends · BETA") from the main menu.
  3. Pick a way in: Create room: invite online friends; Classic mode for 2 to 4 trainers. Join with a code: room codes are 4 letters or numbers. Account invite codes (XXXX-XXXX) are a different thing and don't work as room codes. Find a match: see Matchmaking below.
  4. In the room, each player picks a League Pokémon. The room only offers maps and difficulties that every member has unlocked. A player shown in red is on an old client version and has to reload.
  5. Room chat is cleared when the run starts.

Matchmaking and public rooms

Added in 0.8.73. Choose the mode, team size (Duo, Trio or Squad), map and difficulty, or pick "Any" to get matched sooner. The game matches players in your region first.

  • Public rooms have a leader (crown icon).
  • Since 0.8.74, an idle leader is removed after 90 s, after an "Are you still there?" prompt.
  • A solo search is cancelled after 3 min idle.
  • In a friends room, the Find teammates toggle fills empty slots with matchmaking players.

Team Survival

Added in 0.8.68:

  • A shared boss every 4 minutes, then the Cataclysm and Apocalypse phases.
  • Downed teammates come back when the team beats the next boss.
  • A team leaderboard ranks teams by time survived.
  • Since 0.8.72, Bill's Machine is available in Team Survival with an 11-minute cooldown.

Co-op rules that differ from solo

  • Revive: hold E next to a downed teammate (0.8.31). Press Space to switch which teammate you spectate.
  • Enemies target the nearest trainer. Altars are shared. On captures, each player throws their own ball.
  • Portal: everyone has to stand on it to move on.
  • Ping wheel (0.8.73): hold G (L3 on a controller) to choose from 8 pings.
  • Level-up choice: 5 s per level, up to 10 s, and the timer doesn't refill (0.8.73).
  • Bag: usable in co-op (0.8.60). Choose it in the room under difficulty; it is only spent if the run actually starts.
  • Shiny legendaries count for the whole team (0.8.60).
  • Looks challenges count in co-op, except "take at most N hits".
  • The Daily Mutation can't be played in co-op; see the Daily Mutation guide.

Co-op not working?

  • "Co-op is under maintenance / paused": this is a server-side switch, so try again later. Since 0.8.70 the game also backs off automatically when servers are busy.
  • Can't connect to a friend: 0.8.32 added a relay-server fallback, and 0.8.34 explains when the browser blocks peer-to-peer. Try another browser or turn off strict privacy extensions.
  • Teammate shown in red: they are on an old version and need a hard reload.
  • "Co-op is in closed beta": this text still exists in the client, but registration was open on 2026-10-29. If you see it, the beta has been closed again.
  • More fixes: troubleshooting.
