Hazards & map features

From published Season 2 map notes:

  • Tide: Floods the beaches roughly every 90 s; when it recedes it leaves pearls. Exact pearl value / pickup rules: pending first-hand source.
  • Waterspouts: Pull up wild Pokémon — and you — then slam you down onto the horde. Treat them as forced reposition tools, not free rides.
  • Swimming physics is part of Season 2’s coastal kit (see Season 2 overview); per-tile swim speed: pending first-hand source.

Survival-mode extras that apply on maps generally (2 Ditto, 1 Hypno, respawning altars, comet shards ~2 min, migration portal ~11 min) are summarized on the maps index and Survival guide — not re-invented here.

Zone guardians (counter-mechanics)

Season 2 guardians are designed around a counter, not pure tanking. Shared boss rules (Fury, damage cap ≈⅓ HP, Exhaustion, Impatience, CC break) live on the boss guide.

GuardianCounter-mechanic (published)
KinglerClamp Guard — attack it from behind
ElectrodeMinefield — walk it into its own mines
GyaradosHyper Beam leaves it recharging and taking extra damage
TentacruelTentacle Forest — break the tentacles
StarmieRapid Spin pinball — strike when it is dizzy
ElectabuzzThunder Cage — find the gap

Exact zone order / which guardian appears on which difficulty: pending first-hand source (list above is the published Storm Coast guardian set, not a guaranteed spawn sequence).

Rhydon's Roar (Classic): Touch Rhydon’s altar up to 3× per zone before waking the guardian. Each roar: guardian +30% HP, +12% damage, one more elite — and +1 Great Ball per roar on win. Risk-for-loot dial; details also on bosses.

Shrine legendary: Zapdos (Thunder Cape Shrine)

  • Region shrine: Zapdos at Thunder Cape Shrine.
  • How to beat (published): Stand next to a lightning rod so bolts hit the rod. Three charges discharge, knock Zapdos down, and leave it wide open.
  • Legendaries have a 3% chance to appear shiny; a beaten shiny waits for your Poké Ball (never misses) — same rule as other shrines (bosses).
  • Phase timings, rod count on the arena, and shiny confirmation in-client: re-verify live; rod charge count above is the published counter, not a full DPS guide. Deep dive: Zapdos boss guide.

Season 2 altars on this map

Same altar kit as other Season 2 maps (maps index):

  • Fossil Ruins: trade run max HP for a fossil — Helix (−15%: pick from 2 Epic+ items), Dome (−20%: ×1.5 Legendary blessing), or Old Amber (−25%: Aerodactyl joins).
  • Rhydon's Roar: buff the guardian up to 3× for extra Great Balls (Classic).
  • Porygon Altar: three stat trades (one stat up, another down by half as much).
  • Bill's Machine: one per map — fuse two max-level moves (fusions).

Exact altar spawn locations on Storm Coast tiles: pending first-hand source (big map marks altar / shrine / portal since Patch #7).
